Do you know what day it is today?
A great Indian was born today. An Indian who not only helped in shaping the Constitution of India, he also protected, preserved and defended the Constitution of India as its 1st President. His name – Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
He was a lawyer – a graduate of Calcutta Law College and founded Bihar Law Weekly, a politician – president of Indian National Congress in 1934,1939, and 1947, and a journalist – founded and edited English weekly ‘Searchlight’ and Hindi weekly ‘Desh’.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad is the only Indian President to get elected for 3 consecutive terms of 1950, 1952, and 1957. He was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’ in 1962 – India’s highest civilian award.
The King and Queen of Sweden are in Delhi to promote bilateral ties, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker has been elected and that too unopposed, this and few other major headlines on page 1.
