The second story should gladden your heart – scientists have found a new type of solar system, that challenges our theory of how solar systems are formed around stars.

The Children's Post, 27th September, 2019

Hello Wonderful People,                                                                                                                                                                                      Tell me something: How do you feel when you go back to school after vacations and have your physical education class? I still remember the bad cramps that I would get after (this particular) physical education class. This was because I would be playing indoors during my vacations and not indulge in any kind of physical activity.                          While discussing the same with Dr Jaibans Singh, I realised that we must take up physical activities during vacations and it is very important for our overall well-being that we incorporate physical activities in our daily routine.                    A big thank you to Dr. Jai for sharing the what, why and how of physical activity. That is the feature on page 2. Hope you will find it useful.                                                                                                                                                               The lead news on page 1 is about the crisis that The Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank is facing. The other is the space news bulletin that talks about the new satellite launched by NASA and the 1st Arab who has reached the International Space Station.                                                                                                                                                                     Page 3 has the editorial, another Ruskin Bond special book review by Samaira Dewan and the Maze Mania by Rikhil Nanda.
Page 4 has the sports news, a lovely recipe for Choco balls by Dimple Tanna and the brilliant Funny Bunnies by Aakarsh Agarwal.
I want to leave you all with a question this week: If you were to choose a physical activity for your parents, what would that be and why? Think, think...                                                                                                                                                                                       Hope you enjoy the edition and have a lovely weekend!

Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Onions, and more - September 26th, 2019

My dear readers
If you thought that agricultural economics and macro economics is just something we learn at school, today's paper will make you think again! The lead story will show you how monsoons lead to problems in macro economics and how problems in macro-economics can lead to unrest among people.
The second story is a news bullet-in - a bullet point of some important news stories.

The Sanskrit wisdom that we have today is AWESOME. I loved reading it, and am sure your parents will love reading it too. Do show it to them.

The Hindi Lokokti is also fun. Isn't it cool how the lokoktis are so lyrical? Like poetry in 2 lines that also makes a lot of sense! Ishaan Kaila has prepared this really cool puzzle (I could not crack it) and Word Magic has a word worth knowing, so you can show it off. The Quote of the day is just the expression of all our hearts. Tell me what you think.

Page 3 has an important editorial and Article 19 of Priyanka aunty's Studying Abroad series.

Pages 4 and 5 have the Chandamama Fan Club. Today we bring you... a story... in a poem.. a poem.. with a story.. Well, I can't really make up my mind about what this is, so you better figure this out yourselves.

Remember that puzzle last week? On Greenhouse gases? Guess what? We got some very interesting responses, and we share the best with you. More food for thought, then?

Page 7 has the Sports News, Ishaan's Laugh-a-lot-it-is, and Bob's super funny Bob Mania. Today, after a long time, we have a phonics poem for your younger siblings. Do share it with them.

Much love

Nidhi aunty

The United Nations General Assembly meet opened in New York with day 1 dedicated to the climate summit. 16 children from across the globe have put in their petition in front of UN. What are they asking for? Can they bring about a change? Only time will tell. This is the second news today.
A sanctuary, botanical park, a zoo, leopard park, lakes..What all can a national park offer? Well, this one has it all. Read about it on Page 2.
Page 3 has an 'under the sea' poem by Mira, word search by Rikhil Nanda, this day..that year, and the quote of the day.
Art work by Subaina Roy and Vaania and a cute little poem by Tara Dhawan on Page 4.

Happy Reading:)

The Children's Post, 24th September, 2019

Hello Beautiful People

The lead news on Page 1 is disheartening but one should notice that adversity brings out the best in people. Following the collapse of this legendary company, a lot of (currently unemployed) employees of Thomas Cook were seen helping stranded tourists outside the airports all over the world. Isn't that wonderful!
The secondary news talks about eco-anxiety which is alarmingly being noticed in a lot of children these days. Please read the news and talk to your parents about any concerns you might have. You can also reach out to us. You know we are always there for you.

Page 2 and 3 contains a lot of interesting facts about Sun and its future.

Page 4 has a new feature called 'What if' - It is a hypothetical section but it is still based on reason. Let me know if you like this section and do give new topics. You will not even have to think hard. Such topics are all around us. Just use your imagination. Also read the hilarious knock-knock contributions by Rani Chand, Aakarsh and Ishaan. Hope the space joke will make you laugh out loud.

Page 5 has news from Singapore Grand Prix and a stimulating article on Yoga by Kartikeye Singh.

Enjoy the edition

Hindi Kavita

Critical Reasoning Puzzle - Greenhouse Gases

This is the picture causing an uproar in the General Assembly on environment change:
Per Capita or Per Person: Suppose a country releases 100 units of carbon dioxide and has 50 people. The per capita emission is 100 units / 50 = 2 units.

Statement 1:

“China cannot be treated as an offender. This is a map of per capita emissions. When you look at China’s population, it is easy to see that we have a lot of people. But we are still yellow. The US and Russia do not have as many people, but they are orange. Their greenhouse emissions are a result of greed.”
Statement 2:
“In that argument lies your ignorance. Because China has so many people, and this map is per capita, the true extent of your emissions is, in fact, camouflaged by the number of people you have. The average person in the US and Russia may generate more greenhouse gases than the average person in China, but our total emissions are far lower than the emissions created by a single country – China. The only reason you are not in the red, literally and figuratively, is that you have so many people.”

Which statement do you agree with? Why?

The Children's Post, 18th September,2019

Hello dear readers,
Women are gaining recognition in the Indian armed forces. The recent appointment of a female wing commander as a military diplomat just reinforces this fact. South Asia's tallest tower was unveiled in Sri Lanka.
These are the main news stories on Page 1.
Page 2 features a national park which is famous for its spice plantation besides its wildlife. Read on.
Vaania describes a bazaar or a typical street market in her poem. In today's mall culture, we've actually forgotten what it was to roam around in the street markets. Have you been to one? This day..that year, a confusing tongue twister and a beautiful poem by R. L. Stevenson.. all this on Page 3.
Page 4 has Groot for all you Marvel fans, by Mira. A lovely sketch by our budding artist Aashira, and the quote of the day.
Happy Reading:)

The Children's Post, 17th September, 2019

Hello Readers

Page 1: The entire world is getting digitized, be it a library, newspapers, public information, laws etc - so it's only natural that our map should be digitized too. Though, digitized versions of India's map is available but they are of poor resolution. Read the main news on Page 1 to know what is the government doing to fix that. Continue further to understand the drone laws in India.
Page 2: The news on Motor Vehicle Act is a little old but is important nonetheless. We have covered all the major fines that you need to explain to your parents. Be Alert - Save Money. That's the new motto.
Page 3: Animal Kingdom is quite mysterious. The friendship between animals is so concealed that it needs to be studied to confirm if it's a friendship. Read and understand few unusual animal behaviour here.
Page 4: Read our beloved Mickey Mouse's story on this page.
Page 5: Did you know that Basketball World Cup was going on. Read about it in the sports section. Play the very exciting 'Who am I' and feast your eyes on the amazing sketch by Ayona Kapur.

Meena Pathak's Hindi Poem on Hindi Divas /

Meena Pathak ji's poem on Hindi Divas in her own handwriting

Editor's Note: I saw this poem on a Facebook Group and immediately sought permission to feature it here. The beauty of this poem is that it does not compare Hindi to any other language. There is no competition. It states the great things about the language, without putting another down. It is beautiful, rhythmic, perfect for the children, and very, very positive.

Our deep gratitude to Meena ji, for giving us permission to reproduce it here, and to Nipun Jain ji, for reaching out to her on our behalf.

Tejas ke Nausena Vimaan ki test Landing
