The edition is here.

Hindi Kavita

At the wrong time, even the right thing becomes inappropriate / hilarious.

Over the last 4 days, The Children's Post has been featured in 3 publications - India Today, Gurgaon Moms, and The Better India.

There has been a flurry of activity and we have had readers from Himachal to Kerala, from Nagaland to Gujarat joining the bandwagon. Thank you, to all our new readers, and we hope that you will enjoy the edition as much as we love making it. Do share your thoughts. The Children's Post is a completely child oriented paper. Today is a very important day. It was on this day, in 1949, that India signed up to become the world's largest democracy, and committed itself to the ideals of Justice, Equality, Liberty, and Fraternity for all its people. A moment to be proud of. Read the cover story to find out more about the Constituent Assembly and the Constitution.

Your favourite Word Magic and Ridley the Riddle Turtle are in place, and today, we have two quotes in the quote of the day. Both of these have had a deep influence on me, and I am glad to share them with you.

We have a recap of the entire Time Management Course. So far, we have tried to understand our use of time. Now, we start to understand how we can change that use of time. Today's activity is real fun - because it is all about you and what you FEEL like doing. If you have missed any of the earlier activities, now is a good time to catch up.

The Junior Reading Room is another favourite poem from my own childhood, and the Chuckle Time is a question I used to think of. Its been 30 years, and no answer yet.. maybe you could help?

Enjoy the edition!

The Children's Post 20th November, 2018

Some days ago, we saw how the human brain is being understood better by trying to do exactly what it does. Today, learn about how we are trying to understand the Black hole pat in the centre of our galaxy, by using a computer to behave exactly as the Black hole does.

We also read a couple of days ago about the new measure for the kilogram - the electromagnetic force required to counter the force of a one kilogram item. Today, India announced that we will move to the new standard by May 2019. Read all about it.

Africa is the world's largest continent, but it does not get as much mind space. Today is the Africa Industrialisation Day. Read our full page story. There are as many as FIVE riddles in today's edition, and a poem by Anoushka that truly inspires thought and introspection. We hope you enjoy it.

Ameya has created the Art Corner drawing AND created today's Captain India - his regular cartoon strip. Captain India is just coming into his own, and I can't wait to find out more. This is the only action cartoon strip in our paper, so I am following it rather keenly.

But if I had to mention my favourite part of today's paper, it would be the Useful Tip on Page 4.

The edition is here. Enjoy the edition!

The pain caused by rude words is more intense than the pain caused by burning through fire.

PS: It may be of interest to note that burning is today scientifically recognised as one of the most painful experiences for a human.

Did you know that the weights and measurements system  of Ratti, Masha, Tola, Ser and so on, was used non stop from the Vedic period to the British period, and is still used actively in parts of rural India? The weights and measures system that has been with us for over 2,500 years!

You probably know the metric method of grams - kilograms etc. But the Indian system was much more complex - having been designed to cater to many types of materials, while fitting into a universal standard.

The Children's Post, 19th November, 2018

Do you want to study for one less year? That change is perhaps on its way, with UK showing the way.

If you are in Delhi or thereabouts, do NOT miss the national theater festival for children  - with troupes from all over the country. Read about it in today's edition.

Our darling Mehar has sent in a lovely Word Search puzzle, and your favourite Word Magic is here too.

In the Crafts of India monthly series, we bring you Mekhla Chador of Assam today.

Today, we bring you the third part of the Time Management Program,
with an activity that is the most fun yet. We are sure you will love doing it. And if you have done it with your kids, please share it with us.
The editorial is a review of the play "She Stood up" by a theater academy in Chandigarh. Awesome, awesome play.

The tongue twister today has a play on the letter "Z" - one of the rarest to be found in tongue twisters. And the Junior Reading poem discusses the personalities of the colours red and green. Go figure!

Gurpreet's cartoon had me laughing out loud!

The edition is here. Enjoy!

The Children's Post - 18th November, 2018 - Special Edition on Coral Reefs

What are some of the things that we take for granted? The Kilogram, for instance. But have you ever wondered, who decides that this exact weight is one kilogram? There is a global body of weights and standards that does just that - and yesterday, it changed the way the kilogram is defined - from physical mass, to the amount of electromagnetic current required to create the exact same force as a body with mass of 1 kilogram. Interesting, isn't it? Read all about it in today's paper.

We also have a full 2 page special edition story on coral reefs.. mind-blowing images and awesome content.

The World's architectural wonders today features the giant egg shaped opera house in Beijing!!

The Word Magic, Quote of the Day and Junior Reading Corner, are all there. Vivaan Narang returns with his "The Viv Life" , and we couldn't stop the laughter.

In this world, the only real work we do, is the one in which our heart is invested. Work done only by the body is not work at all.

The edition is here.

Why do the tech giants have to fight fake news if it hurts us? Why should we, the people, not pledge to stay away from unverified sources, fake news, and rumours? Why don't we decide to vote only based on the manifesto of the candidate?

When you become voters, my dear readers, I hope that a candidate does not need to spend money to get your vote. I hope that we are all conscious of the great responsibility that comes with great power. I hope that we learn to read the manifestoes, we learn to ask intelligent questions related to governance, and we learn to also educate other people.

Did you know about the Museum of the Moon? Neither did we. How surreal!
Today is also the INternational Day of Kindness. Be randomly kind today.

The Children's Post - 12th November, 2018

In today's edition, we start the Time Management Program for our readers. Once they have completed this program, they will not say "Where did all that time go?" ever again.

Dear Parents, this is a program in which we need your support. The idea of the program is not for us to manage their time better, but for them to find their own time priorities better and take control of their own time.
We may not agree with their prioritisation - so please remember that we are learning the SKILL of prioritisation. We are NOT creating the perfect priority list. Please resist the temptation to suggest or improve their grid today. It is theirs to make and theirs to own.

Here is what you can do though - spend time reading the first part of the program with them, and help them internalise the affirmations. They need that. If you think it makes sense, spend a few days just repeating the affirmation given at the end of Page 2. When you think the child has truly internalised the affirmation, then take them to the next step. The introductory steps are the most important steps - because he who has a why will find a how, but he who does not have a why will avoid doing it anyhow.

The rest of the post is very interesting too - the main story brings a recap of the situation in Sri Lanka, and a recent update on the same. There is the familiar Word Magic, quote of the day, a riddle, a maze and a mini quiz to boot! The kids are off to a happy Monday start!

Gurpreet's Dreams and Doodles brings a chuckle. Enjoy the edition!
